Sharks Use 10-Run Inning to Beat Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A ten-run top of the sixth inning was more than enough for the Sharks to earn a non-conference road win against Palm Beach Atlantic. NSU defeated the Sailfish 13-5 on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Sharks set the tone for the game from the beginning, as Alejandro Macario led the game off with a solo home run to give NSU an early advantage. NSU starting pitcher Cooper Omans sent the Sailfish down in order in the bottom half of the first, keeping the momentum on the Sharks-side. Macario, in his second at-bat in as many innings, added a second RBI to his total, this time driving in Bryce Hazzard with a single to left field. Omans stranded runners on first and third in the bottom of the second inning, keeping NSU in front, 2-0.

PBA tied the contest at 2-2 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning and later took a 4-2 advantage over Nova Southeastern with another pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Adam Smith tied the game with a two-run blast of his own in the top of the sixth inning, sparking an incredible 10-run frame for NSU. The first four batters for NSU, including Smith, reached base to start the inning. The next six batters for Nova Southeastern all drove in runs, with Duncan Pastore, Adam Frank, Adan Fernandez, Daniel Irisarri, Smith and Alex Hernandez all collecting RBIs in the frame. Hernandez capped off the inning with a two-run home run of his own, driving in Smith, and giving the Sharks a 12-4 advantage.

Ryan Bradarich relieved Omans in the top of the seventh inning and worked out of a base loaded jam with a strike out and a double play. PBA cut into the Sharks advantage with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, making the score 12-5.
